Music therapy effects in invasive mechanic support breathing patients in intensive care unit. Literature review

    Abstract:
    ABSTRACT Introduction: Invasive ventilatori support is a common therapy in intensive care unit, in turn causing high levels of stress to patients in critical condition. Music therapy is a nursing intervention that promotes relaxation and well-being of the patient. Objective: To know and analyze the effects of music therapy on mechanically ventilated patients in ICU. Method: Descriptive review of the literature on electronic databases PubMed, Cuidatge, Cuiden, IME, CINAHL i Dialnet. Manuscripts were included if they were published in the last 5 years (2010-2015), with a topic related keywords in Spanish and English, conducted in people over 18 years old who required invasive ventilatori support in intensive care. Results: Nine manuscripts were included. These have demonstrated beneficial effects on anxiety, pain, physiological parameters and sedation. Conclusions: Music therapy has favorable effects on highs levels of anxiety on invasive mechanical ventilatori support patients. Key words: Music therapy, artificial respiration, critical care.
