Factors lack of adherence to treatment in adult pactients with cardiovascular risk factors

    Abstract:
    ABSTRACT Objective: To identify the reasons why patients with cardiovascular risk factors doesn’t adhere to the treatment regimen. Methodology: qualitative, observational, transverse and descriptive study. Morisky Green questionnaire and semi-structured interview in depth to a sample of 3 adults with different cardiovascular risk factors was used for data collection. Categories are analysed by four factors: patient-related, social / environmental, related to disease or treatment and related health service. Results and discussion: the three patients report that analysed the four factors are present and related to lack of adherence to treatment regimen. Most aspects are the chronicity of cardiovascular risk factors, socioeconomic factor and emphasize health services. The low educational level is factor acting on the other. This study addresses the various dimensions of adherence and contrasts with other studies which found much to do. Conclusions: The control of cardiovascular risk factors is a complex set of interactions in which adherence is a key in which we can intervene. This study may help establish strategies to improve adherence in patients with cardiovascular risk. To that extent involvement of all health professional and nursing especially recommended by diagnoses and interventions NANDA, NOC, and NIC appropriate.
