    Abstract:
Mechanical restraint, used to manage aggressive behavior or prevent injury, raises ethical and legal concerns. This study evaluated its impact on the safety, psychological status, and duration of hospitalization of acute geriatric patients. Through a bibliographic review of articles between 2019 and 2024, negative effects such as prolonged hospital stay, adverse emotional impact, and physical risks such as skin injuries and falls were found. The most affected patients are usually older men with comorbidities. The lack of education and the lack of training of staff underscore the need for better policies and training.
