Gestalt therapy as healing of mental and somatic function: A systematic literature review

    Abstract:
    A high prevalence of mental disorders affects people around the world. Epidemiological findings alert on the importance to investigate integrative health resources for the treatment of mental illnesses and increase the overall health of the population. Gestalt therapy will be usefull because its aim is the empowerment and development of adaptive behavior through awareness of the organism needs. The objectives of this document are to know the mental health problems and somatic symptoms in which Gestalt therapy brought benefits. Pubmed, Scopus and Scielo data base were consulted, among other repositories. The results demonstrate the positive effects of the therapy in psychological crisis experiences, mental disorders and organic diseases. That therapy work whith a holistic view of human being and it is a valuable tool in psychiatric nursing.
