  • Identification data

    Identifier:  TFG:8541
    Authors:  Baeza Fernández, Marcos
    Abstract:
This systematic review analyzed the effects of Nordic walking (NW) on people with Parkinson's, comparing it to free walking and physiotherapy treatments. Ten studies with about 300 participants were included. NW significantly improved walking speed, stride length, cadence, balance, quality of life, and non-motor symptoms such as fatigue and depression. Possible neuroprotective effects were also observed. The main limitations were a moderate risk of bias and heterogeneity among studies. In conclusion, NW is a safe and effective intervention for people with Parkinson's, with no declared funding or registration.
