    Abstract:
Obesity affects a large proportion of women of childbearing age. Bariatric surgery is the most effective treatment for obesity, weight loss, and improving fertility, but it can cause nutritional deficiencies during pregnancy. Between September and December 2024, 13 studies (326,904 participants) were analyzed, showing postoperative improvements in gestational diabetes, hypertension, and macrosomia, but also a higher number of cases of small-for-gestational-age infants. Anemia was present in 56.1% of cases, and 76.5% required micronutrient supplementation. Specific supplements (WLS-MVS) were more effective than standard ones.
