    Identifier:  TFG:8607
    Authors:  Casañ Alufra, Ana
    Abstract:
The aim of the study is to assess the correlation between clinical improvement and changes in TNF-α and IL-1β following low-dose radiotherapy in hand osteoarthritis (OA). 12 patients diagnosed with hand OA were recruited, their blood samples were collected, the Cochin questionnaire was administered, and pain was asseseed before and one month after treatment (six sessions of 0.5 Gy). 75% reported an improvement in pain (p = 0.083), and 50% reported an improvement in hand function (p = 1.000). IL-1β was not expressed and TNF-α was detected in three patients (p= 1.000). LDRT did not show clinical or biochemical effects.
