Effectiveness of Therapeutic Approaches in Primary Nocturnal Enuresis and the Impact of Physiotherapeutic Treatment on Child Health: A Systematic Review

  • Identification data

    Identifier:  TFG:8671
    Authors:  Pérez Ribera, María
    Abstract:
This systematic review analyzed the effectiveness of pharmacological, behavioral, and physiotherapeutic treatments for primary nocturnal enuresis (PNE), including 20 clinical studies published between 2019 and 2025. Alarm therapy achieved a 70% success rate, although with a high dropout rate. Pharmacological treatments showed rapid improvements but had relapses and adverse effects. Physiotherapeutic techniques, such as biofeedback and electrostimulation, provided sustained benefits and good tolerance. Despite the heterogeneity of the studies, the results support physiotherapy as a comprehensive approach that, in addition to treating symptoms, promotes the emotional and family well-being of the affected child.
