    Abstract:
Every day, at Repsol, the paraffins, isoparaffins, olefins, naphthenes and aromatics (PIONA) content of naphtha is determined using gas chromatography. In this work, 34 multivariate calibration models have been developed for the estimation of PIONA using NIR spectroscopy, a simpler, faster and more economical technique. The differences between the predictions and the reference values are lower than the tolerances allowed in most models. The rest are used to give meaning to the complete PIONA. Despite the good results, the models need to be monitored to adapt them to changes in naphtha production.
