Abstract:
Nowadays, teen suicide and bullying are two of the most important problems of public health afflicting society around the world. The purpose of this review is to analyze factors that affect teen suicide related to bullying. Five databases were used to the bibliographic search between October 2015 and January 2016. Twenty one articles were included in the review. The most significant risk factors were being a man, previous personal and/or family suicide attempt, mental health problems, substance abuse, previous physical and/or sexual abuse, low socioeconomic level, belong to a single‐parent family, underachievement, familiar disfunction and violent environment. The most common protective factors were being a woman, good mental health, belongs to a two‐parent family, safe school environment, good family relationship and monitoring teacher. Teen suicide and bullying both are serious problems due to the lack of effective prevention, detection and action methods and protocols. It is necessary a higher investment in the investigation of these fields.
