    Abstract:
The most effective treatment for severely obese patients is bariatric surgery, which improves liver damage caused by MASH, a common comorbidity. Recent studies indicate that hepatic immune cells, implicated in the worsening of MASH, may have a dual role, also repairing liver damage. After surgery and weight loss, MASH improves, and immune cells seem to be associated with it. Using immunohistochemistry and digital pathology, a change in the proportion of these cells has been detected and quantified, linked to liver improvement, but not to comorbidities.
