Validation of a method for determining metals in the secondary circuit of a nuclear reactor using plasma spectrometry

    Abstract:
    The analysis of metals in the secondary circuit of a nuclear power plant is of great importance to work under the appropriate operating conditions. For this reason, it is necessary to have a multiparametric method that allows the simultaneous analysis of the main metals to quickly detect any alteration in the chemistry of the secondary circuit. This work describes the validation process of an analytical method for the quantitative analysis of sodium, aluminum, iron, magnesium, copper, calcium, potassium and silica in the secondary circuit of a nuclear power plant with a pressurized water reactor using atomic emission spectrometry. This method is applied to a new spectrophotometer.
