Alternative / complementary therapies to pharmacological analgesia during labor

Abstract:
Summary This study aims to know the different alternative / complementary therapies used in natural childbirth care, as some people often see the part as a technical process in which even pain appears as the main protagonist. A study was descriptive and analytical articles sought between October 2015 and March 2016 in Cuiden Plus, Google Scholar, PubMed and CINAHL were obtained a total of 152 articles, of which 20 were selected articles, applying the criteria of inclusion and exclusion. The analysis of the results has been divided into four categories according to the type of therapy, the effectiveness validated, year of publication, author and profession. It stands as a therapy used more emotional support, most of the articles highlight validated the effectiveness of the therapies, the year of publication in 2014 is the most important, and how the profession authors include midwives. Most authors emphasize the need for further research into the different therapies in order to have scientific evidence of results and widespread practice.
