    Abstract:
This paper analyses the impact of human capital, investment in infrastructure and R&D effort (both public and private) on regional economic growth in Spain. Using panel data from the autonomous communities, a log-log econometric model is estimated to assess how these explanatory variables affect regional GDP. The results provide evidence in favour of endogenous growth models, and emphasise the key role of higher education, private R&D investment and net capital stock as the basis of economic growth. The analysis offers us relevant implications for the design of policies that promote GDP development in the regions. Alternative research that the results have suggested is also proposed.
