Development of an ITS platform for C-ITS services using V2X communications

    Abstract:
    This final degree project aims to develop a platform for Intelligent Transport Systems (ITS) with support for Cooperative Communications Technology Systems (CITS), based on vehicle-to-vehicle (V2X) communication. The project is structured in two distinct parts: a study phase and an implementation phase. The first phase involves a technical study of ITS platforms, with the objective of understanding what C-ITS systems are, what technologies currently exist for communication between vehicles and infrastructure, and the current state of the sector at the European level. This phase includes an analysis of ETSI standards, as well as a review of the most widely used transmission technologies. The second phase of the project consists of the design and implementation of an ITS platform from Applus+ IDIADA, a technology company in the sector. In this stage, the functional and non-functional requirements, as well as the main characteristics of the solution, will be defined in detail. The platform is composed of various microservices (mostly developed in Java) that are orchestrated using REST APIs and MQTT messaging.
