    Abstract:
This study examines the sustainability of the Spanish pension system, currently pressured by an aging population and the looming retirement of the baby boom generation. This demographic shift poses a significant challenge to the Spanish economy, as it triggers a simultaneous increase in the number of retirees and a contraction of the working-age population. To analyze this issue, the paper first outlines the operational framework of the Spanish pension system, including its core characteristics, funding mechanisms, and institutional structure.
