    Abstract:
This study evaluates the statistical reliability of autosomal, X-chromosome, and Y- chromosome STR markers in kinship analysis using real casework. Buccal swab samples were processed with commercial kits (VeriFilerTM Express, Argus X-12, YFilerTM Plus), and data were analyzed using Families, FamLinkX, and the YHRD database. Results showed autosomal STRs are highly effective in direct relationships (e.g., paternity), while X-STRs enhanced reliability in sibling analysis involving females. Y-STRs indicated paternal-line links in male cases but lacked resolution for direct brotherhood. The findings highlight the need for a marker-specific approach, tailored to relationship type, to ensure accuracy and robustness in forensic genetics.
