Secondary victimization and psychological impact on minor victims of child sexual abuse: a systematic review of the factors associated with the judicial process

Abstract:
The conventional criminal justice system subjects child victims of sexual abuse to secondary victimization that affects their mental health. This systematic review analyzes the impact of temporal, procedural, and environmental factors in the juvenile justice system using a sample of 14 articles selected from the Web of Science, assessing their quality with the AXIS and CASPe tools. The results indicate that chronic delays, multiple interrogations, and hostile environments perpetuate distress. The review concludes that there is a need to standardize pre-trial evidence and implement models such as the Barnahus model.
