Abstract:
This study analyzes the relationship between personality traits, gaming roles, and problematic video game use using a cross-sectional, correlational design with 193 participants. The results revealed significant differences in Agreeableness, Neuroticism, and Openness according to role, as well as an association between sex and preferred role. No sex differences were found in gaming volume or problematic use. However, age showed a moderate negative correlation with the IGD (Individualized Gaming Disorder). Finally, Neuroticism was directly associated with problematic use, while Conscientiousness showed an inverse relationship.
