Abstract: The objective of the present project, is design a gantry crane with pneumatic wheels and it can transport and move loads to 35 tons. Its main characteristic is it ability to move the dry van containers with fully load. The methodology of sizing for a crane it has two parts. First of all, the sizing and calculation of crane’s structure, with all the hypothesis of load and safety values that the norms say. On the other hand, the selection of all the assets and elements that give to crane the function of an elevation machine. Although I have explained and justified all elements of the crane, I have put special emphasis on the design of the structure and to main components. With the final purpose to make a correct design have used different CAD tools to sizing the crane and its elements. Whole crane has been designed and simulated with SolidWorks® 2015. The result of the project is a gantry crane, comparable in performance to those made by the companies in the industry and meets the specifications that had arisen from the beginning in addition to fulfilling the regulations.
