    Abstract:
To evaluate the impact of a PN intervention based on body composition and basal energy expenditure (GEB) according to indirect calorimetry (IC), on the muscle mass and strength of individuals with OS. Intervention study in patients with sarcopenic obesity. A phenotypic, anthropometric and indirect calorimetry characterization was performed and a personalized nutritional plan was designed based on this. 17 individuals were recruited. 82.35% had insulin resistance. There were differences between the GEB obtained by CI versus that calculated by conventional formulas. It is known that OS is a common condition in young severely obese individuals. It is detectable by BIA and muscle functional tests. The GEB calculated using conventional formulas has inaccuracies in this population, which could be improved by using CI.
