Title in different languages: Effectiveness of physiotherapy techniques on depression symptoms in elderly patients: systematic review
Abstract: The population over 65 is growing in developed countries such as Spain, reaching 19.09% and is expected to reach 25.2% in a decade. Depression affects 5% of the elderly in the community and 25% in institutions, reducing their quality of life. This systematic review, following PRISMA guidelines, evaluated the effectiveness of physiotherapy in the elderly with depression. Studies in databases were reviewed until March 2024, selecting 8 studies with 1,885 subjects. The interventions included therapeutic exercise and relaxation techniques, showing some significant improvements. It is concluded that more research is needed to confirm its effectiveness
