Abstract: The lack of randomized controlled trials evaluating the effect of physical activity on kidney function in type 2 diabetic patients prompted our study on 136 diabetic adults aged 41-87 years. The “Pas-a-Pas” physical activity intervention involved 120 minutes/week walking and strength exercises, while the control group received standard care. The intervention tended to improve eGFR, with significant differences favouring the intervention group in women, participants under 65, and those with uncontrolled diabetes. Additionally, there were clinically meaningful decreases in body weight and total cholesterol. Overall, the Pas-a-Pas intervention increased physical activity, may improve eGFR, and significantly improved cardiometabolic risk factors.
