    Abstract:
Frailty is a condition characterized by reduced physical reserves, increasing vulnerability to adverse health outcomes. With the rise in global life expectancy, it has become a significant public health concern. Healthy dietary patterns, such as the Mediterranean Diet, are associated with a reduced risk of frailty, potentially mediated by specific metabolic signatures. This study has two primary objectives: (1) to conduct a systematic review of existing research on the role of metabolites in the relationship between dietary patterns and frailty, and (2) to describe the baseline characteristics of the NUTRIFRAIL cohort. The results suggest that adherence to healthy diets is inversely associated with frailty and that metabolic signatures of these dietary patterns mediate the relationship between healthy dietary patterns and frailty.
