    Abstract: Nowadays energy consumption is one of the fundamental problems to be addressed and, for this purpose, Clariant seeks to use the energy dissipated by the ethoxylation reactions occurring in its production plants to reheat to 90ºC a water stream used in the company. To do so, the optimal gasketed plate heat exchanger is designed and an estimation of the cost of installing such an exchanger is made. By this, the aim is to reduce the steam consumption of the company as well as the generation of carbon dioxide.
