Debottlenecking of the drying system in the paper machine number six at Essity Valls

Abstract:
Tissue is a light, soft and water-absorbent type of paper. In this work, since the drying system of the tissue machine number six at Essity Valls is a bottleneck when producing certain paper varieties, it was analyzed with debottlenecking finalities. Debottlenecking strategies based on changes in the control strategy of the hood as well as some other process variables were proposed and tested. Thanks to the deep study performed in the first stages, major physical changes in the drying system and the papermaking process were also proposed with the objective of achieving a higher drying capacity.
