    Identifier:  TFM:2084
    Authors:  El Ouahi, Ayoub
    Abstract:
The cooling water system at Dow Chemical Ibérica's ethylene production plant represents a production bottleneck in summer due to increased cooling requirements and, in addition, several heat exchangers users of the system present reliability problems (fouling & pitting corrosion). The present project aims to optimize the cooling water distribution system of the cracker plant through its hydraulic simulation, the validation of the simulated model and its further analysis to identify the critical exchangers in terms of velocity and heat duty and, finally, by implementing several improvement proposals to enhance the reliability and performance of the critical heat exchangers and to increase their cooling capacity.
