Title in different languages: Light-driven microrobots for water remediation
Abstract: Recent advancements in light-driven microswimmers have significantly advanced solar energy utilization for environmental applications, particularly in water purification. Bismuth vanadate (BiVO₄) microswimmers of various shapes and sizes were successfully fabricated using straightforward microwave-assisted and hydrothermal methods without surfactants. The morphology of these microswimmers was fine-tuned by adjusting pH, base concentration and type, and synthesis temperature. Their photocatalytic performance, especially in degrading pollutants under visible light, was enhanced when combined with Cs₂AgBiBr₆ Quantum Dots, which improved movement speed and charge dynamics. This research offers a promising, cost-effective approach for large-scale solar-powered water purification using BiVO₄-based microswimmers.
