    Abstract:
Innovative near-infrared photocatalyst composed by upconversion nanocrystals and TiO2 anatase nanocrystals was synthesized and characterized during the course of this study. Upconversion nanocrystal/TiO2 nanocrystal composites were prepared via core-shell methodology. The surface modification of upconversion nanocrystals and the TiO2 nanocrystals was done with thioglycolic acid and mercaptoethanol. By environmental scanning electron microscopy images, we showed that TiO2 nanocrystals are uniformly dispersed on the surface of the upconversion nanocrystals. Upconversion process was studied via photoluminescence spectra under 980nm excitation.
