Validation of a method for the determination of polyols in industrial solid samples by GC-FID.

    Abstract:
    Pentaerythritol (PE) and dipentaerythritol (DPE) are key polyols in industrial applications, while tripentaerythritol (TPE) is an unwanted by-product. This work validates a gas chromatography method with flame ionization detector (GC-FID) for the simultaneous determination of PE, DPE and TPE in solid samples. The validation follows the Eurachem guideline and laboratory criteria, evaluating selectivity, linearity, limits of detection and quantification, precision, trueness and uncertainty. The results confirm that the method is robust and suitable for implementation as a routine laboratory method.
