    Abstract:
This paper examines the implementation of Artificial Intelligence (AI) within Barcelona’s tourism sector and its implications for sustainability, tourism, operations and stakeholder perceptions. Through a literature review and qualitative interviews with five key tourism stakeholders, the study finds that AI is currently used primarily for operational support, rather than direct tourist interaction. While stakeholders recognize AI’s potential to improve efficiency and contribute to future tourism development, they remain cautious regarding its practical applications, sustainability benefits and ethical implications. The research concludes that AI adoption in Barcelona remains at an early stage, with human interaction continuing to play a central role.
