    Abstract:
The meta-analysis evaluated the effect of omega-3 fatty acid supplementation on hormonal markers in women with polycystic ovary syndrome. Six randomized, placebo-controlled trials were included and analyzed using a random-effects model. The results showed a significant reduction in fasting insulin levels in the supplemented group (p < 0.001; I² = 0%), suggesting a relevant metabolic benefit. In contrast, total testosterone levels did not show a significant decrease, even after sensitivity analysis. In conclusion, omega-3s may improve fasting insulin levels, although further standardized studies are needed to confirm sustained hormonal benefits.
