    Abstract:
    In this work the complete redesign of a Cartesian type 3D printer is realized. In the first part of the work a detailed study of a commercial 3D printer is carried out in order to identify the design requirements. From these estates the conceptual and the detail design of the new machine is performed. The final design and the first functional prototype of the printer meet with the initial expectations, getting a high performance functional machine at a very competitive price. The most notable improvements identified are: implementation of a dual-extruder, better accessibility to the calibration elements, elimination of non-standard components and the expansion of the range of printable materials; all with a cost reduction of more than 50% with respect to the initial model.
