Pollentia during the republican period: analysis of the pottery contexts

  • Identification data

    Identifier:  TFM:401
    Authors:  Pons Rosselló, Antoni
    Abstract:
Pollentia is a Roman city that was founded, according to classical sources, in 123 BC, after the Roman conquest of the Balearic Islands. However, Archaeology nowadays only has provided evidence of the construction from the second quarter of the Ist century BC. Different phases of the republican period of the city have been identified through the study of the materials and some patterns than enable us to make comparisons with other sites of the Western Mediterranean Sea.
