    Abstract:
    Background: The aim of this study is to evaluate the association between high urinary polyphenol excretion and a better cardiovascular health in adolescents. Methods: This study is a cluster-randomized controlles intervention trial in seconday schools in Spain.In 1194 participants score of health criteria included body mass index (BMI), eating habits, physical activity, blood pressure, cholesterol levels, glucose levels, and smoking to establish an Ideal Cardiovascular Health (ICH), Folin-Ciocalteu method was used for the determination of Total Polyphenol Excretion (TPE) in fasting urine samples. Results: More excretion of polyphenols in urine had better values in lipid profile and glucose. Conclusions: A higher concentration may be related to an ideal cardiovascular health in adolescents.
