Abstract:
The main issue of this Ph. D. is to answer the question of what racism is. What racist expressions have in common and, therefore, what is distinctive of racist behaviours opposite to other discriminatory acts, while establishing at the same time criteria to distinguish between those various manifestations of racism and also to graduate them by their intensity is what this work is about. Besides, that gradation would highlight its connections with other grounds of discrimination, specially that referred to behaviour. The issue of modernity of racism is addressed, special attention has been given to the new mentality linked to scientific knowledge, which has been synthesized in the notion of 'efficiency.'
