Abstract:
The general objective of this research is to analyze the main characteristics of Romanian immigrant women, as well as their situation of poverty and its causes from a social vantage point. We start from the idea that social networks and relatives, together with the mechanisms of interaction of Romanian women can play a central role in their situations of poverty. However, the migratory features of Romanian men and women do not refer only to their specific traits, be they national or originating from determined places or regions of Romania, but also to the migratory context of the foster country. For this reason, we decided to compare and analyze the migratory trajectories of Romanian women in different countries and context, with different economic characteristics, with different social structures and, moreover, with particularly different indexes of social development.
