    Resumen:
Serine/treonine kinases at the neuromuscular junction: Specialization of the isoforms of the protein kinase CSerine/treonine kinases are an essential family of enzymes for the signal transduction in a diverse range of cell types. In the neuromuscular junction, the serine/treonine kinases PKC and PKA are involved in the control of transmitter release in the neuromuscular synapses from adult rats as well as in the postnatal development contributing to consolidate of some synaptic connections and also to eliminate some others to configure the motoneuron circuits. To know the mechanisms that occur during the process of postnatal synaptic elimination will help to know those that take place during the progressive synapse loss that occurs during ageing and in certain neurodenerative diseases. This work demonstrates the cellular localization of the isoforms of the PKC and subunits of the PKA at the neuromuscular synapse. Also, describes the cellular localization of calcium-dependent PKC isoforms associated with synaptic activity in the skeletal muscle and in the neuromuscular synapse of the adult rat under resting conditions and after stimulation. Moreover, it has been studied the action of the PKC  in the process of synaptic elimination.
