La formación superior de Magisterio. Una experiencia piloto en la Amazonia Brasileña

    This Thesis has delved into the process of professional training of the Students-Teachers in the project Graduando na Escola Viva. The contribution of this higher training in teacher training, inspired in the Freirian thought, is based on a initial training within a programme of permanent training for primary school teachers, being carried out through the in-service training modality.<br/><br/> The methodological principles chosen for this purpose were the research based on the educational practice, taking up the biographical-narrative methods, in particular. We have used both qualitative strategies (interviews and autobiographies) and quantitative strategies (surveys) to get a deeper insight of the reality of the facts, that is, considering the polyphonic discourse of the five Institutional Representatives UNIR/SEMED, seven Teacher Trainers and sixty Student-Teachers all members of the project of interinstitutional cooperation University / School.<br/><br/> The analysis and interpretation of the resulting data, the acces to the information of the different aspects and spheres, together with the contextual complexity were framed within the triangular interaction as a reference. So, we have given special consideration to the discourse of the protagonists of this study, through their perception, opinions or feelings towards the training process, so that we have been coherent with the principles assumed in the development of the research; since we intend to validate the sources and consequently, the study confirms the results and gives validity to the conclusions of the study.<br/><br/> In this process of permanent training we have found a number of characteristic situations which outline a particular reality. All this makes us state that it has been an innovative project in the training of primary school teachers. This project was purposely carried out taking as protagonists a group of population without acces to higher education. There lots of conflictive episods that show their inner relational dynamics, letting us design descriptive matrices with the main elements that confirm this project as an innovative contribution. All in all, we noticed conflictive situations for political reasons, which nearly made our project fail. On he other hand, it was remarkable to see the effort that the teacher trainers made to adequate their teaching style to the new profile of the students-teachers. Furthermore, the teacher trainers admitted their limitations in front of the new situation and showed their will in intriducing the necessary changes to cope with the new challenges in the university teaching practice.<br/><br/> According to the protagonists of this study there were lots and important changes, which were extraordinary significative and generated from and within the institutional, professional and personal spheres as a rsult of this pilot scheme of higher training in the Brazilian Amazonia. Finally, as a consequence of our study, we have made a proposal of a model for the higher training in teacher training studies, for those who are already in-service primary school teachers and that necessarily will have to have this new degree according to the new law 'LDB' no later than the year 2007.
