Sustainability and profitability: impact of sustainable uncertainty on European and American markets

  • Identification data

    Identifier:  TFG:10252
    Authors:  Esteller Miró, Anna
    Abstract:
This study analyzes whether ESG portfolios perform differently than conventional ones in Europe and the United States, particularly during periods of uncertainty. Based on the STOXX Europe 600, STOXX Europe 600 ESG, S&P 500, and S&P 500 ESG indices, the research examines returns, volatility, excess returns, and the Sharpe ratio. The results show that ESG portfolios do not always outperform, as their performance depends on the market and the nature of the uncertainty.
