    Abstract:
ABSTRACT Treatment of waste water is necessary in our society and it is a big deal for many cities over the world. Fundamentals are presented in this work as well as the study of the performance of seven wastewater treatment plants (WWTP) of the Ribera d’Ebre region in the province of Tarragona (Catalonia, Spain). This study deals with the process that take place on the biological reactors of each WWTP. Thus, by analyzing samples of water line, the performance related to solids, organic matter and the main nutrients present in waste water are determined. In addition, the optimization of a dehydration process through the addition of a chemical, the so called polyelectrolyte, in solid and liquid states is studied. In this study the main samples of mud line are treated.
