NONVERBAL COMMUNICATION AND ITS ROLE WITHIN THE UNIVERSITY CLASSROOMS

  • Identification data

    Abstract:
The human communication is a very complex system in which nonverbal communication (from now on CNV) plays a very important role. In the present work, to be able to understand the magnitude and the scope of the CNV, in the part I, the theoretical part, it has been tried to explain on what the CNV consists, what is its structure and which not verbal elements are attached to the verbal message that may even modify it or, sometimes, appear alone without the verbal language. This has been expounded from the readings of some of the works and researches dedicated to the study of human behavior and communication. Part II, the practical part of this project, presents the results of a not scientific first approach to the research, developed through a survey conducted by the Romance Philologies and Catalan Philology Departments of the Universitat Rovira i Virgili, and students of the Spanish Language and Literature Degree at the same university. The purpose of the practical part is to know the level of consciousness of both groups on their own CNV within the university classroom and in which elements of nonverbal communication students focus as receivers and teachers as transmitters of the verbal communication.
