Abstract:
INTRODUCTION: The non-hospital cardiac arrest is a major public health problem. Starting the cardiac massage as soon as possible could be the tool to prevent these deaths. MAIN GOAL: Evaluate the effectiveness of educational lessons of CPR in students of 4th course of secondary obligation school of La Salle Reus. METHODOLOGY: This is an empirical, quantitative, descriptive and cross research Pre-Post Intervention. The initial sample was 73 subjects of 4th of ESO of La Salle Reus School. The analysis instrument used was the Student's T test for paired data. It was conducted three quantitative data collected, Pre and Post immediately and after two months. RESULTS: It gets a total of 73 participants, with an interval of ages between 15 and 17 years. The approved was at 10 right questions of the Test, in the PreTest was obtained an average score of 8,13 out of 20 points in parts of physiopathology (4,21 out of 10 points, standard deviation (SD) = 1,748) and basic CPR (3,92 points out of 10, SD = 1,738). In the Post Test was obtained an average score of 12,07 out of 20 points, 5,07 out of 10 points in physiopathology and 7 out of 10 points of basic CPR with a SD OF 1,484, with a confidence interval of 95% and a bilateral significance of p <0:05 (p= 0). After two months the results are: 4,74 out of 10 points in physiopathology section and 6,7 out of 10 points in basic CPR, adding a total of 11,44 out of 20 points. Between the Pre Test and the last one it gets a SD of 2,582 with a IC of 95% and p <0:05 (p = 0.0081) in the physiopathology section and one of 2,582 with the same IC and a p<0,05 (p = 0) in terms of basic CPR. CONCLUSIONS: A high percentage of educated people in schools manage to have the necessary knowledge and skills to detect a cardiac arrest and they are able to provide a quality Basic Life Support.
