    Abstract:
    Optimization of a method for the simultaneous analysis of organochlorine pesticides and polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbures by GC-MS This work consists in the optimization of a chromatographic method using a multimode injector, giving the possibility of work with larger volumes of injection. The aim of using this injector is achieving better results of sensitivity than usual. Organochlorine pesticides (POC’s) and polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbures (PHA’s) are both pollutants that must be controlled. For this reason, certain regulations have been made to not exceed the maximum amount of pollutants in water. Throughout this project, it is wanted to optimize different variables that may have an impact in the sensitivity. These factors are some injection conditions (vent time, vent flow, vent pressure, Initial injection temperature), the use of targets and qualifiers and the internal standard, method of extraction and liner type. Thanks to all the optimization process it has concluded that a method for simultaneous analysis of both families by GC-MS has not been possible.
