Russian tourism in Tarragona: their profile as a customer.

Abstract:
The following investigation project analyses a tourist profile that few years ago was not very common in Tarragona city: the Russian tourism. This nationality has taken importance in Spain, especially in Catalonia, but their little volume in front of other nationalities has made a generalization of their profile. For this reason, the main objective is to analyze the evolution of the Russian tourism and their own general profile investigating the traces they have left in hotelier and commercial establishments as a customer, together with the point of view of el Patronat de Turisme de la Diputació de Tarragona. To know the evolution and the profile of this tourist in Tarragona, was made a research based on a survey asked to hoteliers and commercial establishment of Tarragona, and an interview to an employee of el Patronat de Turisme de la Diputació de Tarragona. This analysis has allowed us to know the evolution of Russian tourism characteristics such as the expense, the purchasing power, the capacity to travel out of season and other features. Finally, we have come up with the conclusion that the Russian tourist that is received in Tarragona has changed their social class: nowadays we receive a middle class tourist instead of a high class Russian tourist with purchasing power, the Russian that Tarragona received few years ago.
