Abstract:
This work is titled Construcción de la identidad a través de la indumentaria en las novelas picarescas de los Siglos de Oro. Its main objective is to examine the role of costumes in the construction of identity in the picaresque novels. However, it also aims to see how the society manipulates its external appearance to create new identities. In addition, we also want to see how this novels depict female figures and their clothes. It is a work that aims to study the importance of clothes and accessories in the Spanish Golden Age. But he does to demonstrate the importance of literature. Therefore, we have chosen the picaresque novel, because it reflects the true reality. The construction of identity is done through clothing because it is a social distinction. The clothes can differentiate and transmits information without speaking. The work consists of sections that are useful to build the identity of the society of XVI and XVII. We'll see how was the fashion, the symbolism of clothing and how the society manipulates its external appearance to create new identities. Finally, we will see some statistics that have allowed a sociological study. However, the work ends with the conclusions, bibliography and annexes.
