Collaborative tourism and second homes in the central Costa Daurada: Analysis of the situation and potential

Abstract:
This project deals with the situation of collaborative tourism and second homes on the central Costa Daurada, it analyzes the potential in this geographical area and gives a proposal to improve the municipality of Vila-seca, which could expand the offer of this type of tourist accommodation. The research was done through the website Airbnb and Intercambio de casas, with the comprehensive analysis of housing count, it can be seen the result illustrated in different maps of each municipality, so to distinguish the location and distribution of second homes in the towns of Salou, Cambrils, Vila-seca and La Pineda. The purpose of the research is to measure which is the presence of second homes in this area, knowing the features of these and discovering the positive and negative effects of second homes for the population. Analyze the potential of collaborative tourism in this part of Catalonia it’s useful to relate the research with this new model of tourism.
