Access to new complexes of (Cat)[Cu(CF3)2] as efficient trifluoromethylating agents in the activation of aryl halides

    Abstract:
    Herein, we describe a rapid, selective and in-situ synthesis of the bis- (trifluoromethyl)cuprate complexes through a transmetalation reaction using analogous silver complexes. Subsequently, its potential as trifluoromethylating agents in the formation of C-CF3 bonds using different aryl halides as model substrates has been evaluated. It is important to mention that this is the first time that the capability of these species has been demonstrated, since their reactivity has been neglected to date.
