Abstract:
Targets: Performing pilot study on the implementation of an aerobic exercise program in mild or moderate Alzheimer's patients as a preventive and improving tool of dementia. Material and methods: The sample which the study has been done of is about 10 mild or moderate Alzheimer's patients (based on the Pfeiffer's test score), 5 in the experimental group and 5 in the control group. Two homogeneous groups are selected insofar as Tinetti, Pfeiffer and functional level average. Then, we compare them. The experimental one where they are applied for 2 months an exercise program of 120 minutes per week of 60/70% maximum heart rate. And the control one which maintains the nursing home usual physical activities. Finally, we contrast the Tinetti, Pfeiffer and functional level scores before and after in order to analyse significative differences. Results: There are not statistically significant differences in the Tinetti, Pfeiffer and functional level results from the experimental group before and after the study. Neither in the two groups’ evolution during these two months study.
