Suicide in young people, between 15 and 39 years old, is considered the second cause of death in the world and third in Spain. Adolescence is a stage of continuous changes and therefore, of adaptation. When an adolescent does not have enough resources to assimilate new ways of life and moreover he or she has got risk factors that enhance this behaviour, they may find in suicide a way to escape from reality. Because of the high rates of suicides and risk behaviours, the aim of this study is to analyse prevention programs in motion in educational environments to prevent the suicidal behaviour. The methodology in the present work has been a bibliography review of 13 articles, we studied programs based on: training of Gatekeepers and psychoeducation. Among the conclusions we found: if the knowledge of basic concepts about suicide are favoured, we will obtain beneficial results because will be easier to detect risk situations and the knowledge increase confidence of the teachers and students to know what should do in situation of risk. With regard to the nursing profession, it is mentioned that school nurses, together with the other professionals needed to treat this situation, could take an important role in carrying out a suicide prevention program.
